We were privileged to host Frans Baleni, the General Secretary of the National Union of Mine Workers at our recent BoldTalk Event. Mr. Baleni presented and shared his insights on the past, the present and the future of the mining industry. The Nationalisation Debate was covered in depth and Mr. Baleni identified some of the key challenges in the industry, and the need to ensure that the right people and communities benefit from mining. Attention needs to be focused on ways to address infrastructure problems, transformation issues, women in mining, environmental issues and liquidation experience so that the industry is sustainable. To conclude, he looked at the path to building the future in partnership. An enthused debate and discussion took place, and guests departed with valuable insight and perspective on Nationalisation.
